The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive—the iconic epic fantasy masterpiece that has sold more than 10 million copies, from acclaimed bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiant killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium’s champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

What Audible Listeners Are Saying

4/5 stars — “Ayn Rand Like Bludgeoning”
Brandon has done a fantastic job up until this book of ‘showing’ you injustice and how it develops. Beautifully demonstrating that it doesn’t require deliberate action, but more often through inaction. His message has been subtle but powerful and most importantly intrinsic to the story and delightful to read. But not in this book. He has reverted to an Ayn Rand like preaching, brow beating his readers with lectures that are clumsily inserted into the story line. These lectures pull you out of the story and feel a little like being in a DEI class with bad roll playing examples. I can’t believe that an author so good at immersing readers into a story, at creating sympathetic characters who emotionally draw you in, has changed so drastically to bludgeoning you with a message. I can only assume it’s the heavy handed work of a bad editor. Otherwise the underlying story is wonderful and the issues should not stop you from reading and loving his storytelling. As always Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are outstanding. They are so good at not only creating character voices, but mimicking each other’s character voices. Fantastic.

5/5 stars — “The descend to wokeness.”
When I seen 62 hours after downloading, I knew it was going to be a well thought out masterpiece.

4/5 stars — “Too darned much”
Too many tiers. Too many story arcs. Too many Gods, heralds, demi gods foofoomaign and spren. Too many characters who have multiple names. Humans who merge with heralds who become Gods whose cousins work at Baskin Robins with a guy who knows a girl on another planet that is key to the story. It has all grown to be too darned much.
