An orphan’s life is harsh—and often short—in the mysterious island city of Camorr. But young Locke Lamora dodges relentless danger, becoming a thief under the tutelage of a gifted con artist. As leader of the band of light-fingered brothers known as the Gentlemen Bastards, Locke is soon infamous, fooling even the underworld’s most feared ruler. But in the shadows lurks someone still more ambitious and deadly. Faced with a bloody coup that threatens to destroy everyone and everything that holds meaning in his mercenary life, Locke vows to beat the enemy at his own brutal game—or die trying.

What Audible Listeners Are Saying
4/5 stars — “On/off”
Narration was great! Main character was frustrating. Loch was Sherlock Holmes genius one minute and knuckle-dragger dumb the next. Made for a hard listen.— Joshua, Audible listener
4/5 stars — “Great story ruined by an editor “
I must say that I feel the short comings of this novel fall to the editors. It is a very amazing world the author has created. The arrangement; which I feel was most likely not the way the author originally proposed, but was arranged to fit what the publisher thought would sell better cheapens it. it’s a great story that I feel was not told the way it was written, but the way some dipshit thought it would see better. I personally don’t want to read the follow ups solely because it went through the same editor and publisher— Amazon Customer, Audible listener
5/5 stars — “Here I Sit, Broken-hearted”
what a rollercoaster! The character building technique was pure art. Every name was crucial to the story in an unmistakable way. There was enough detail that my costuming mind could See the characters & settings, but not so much that it felt like a filler.I deeply enjoyed the story & performance.
