This book literally stole the spot of my favorite book. I’ve read both in this duet and I can’t imagine any other dark romance novel living up to it, which in turn leaves me somewhat sad to see it over. I cant recommend it enough to fellow dark romancers. It will ruin you for other books. Also the narration, fan-freaking-tastic. It also has itsown soundtrack, I wasn’t sure I’d like it but it set the mood. 📚42/52Wow. This book. Please check the trigger warnings before picking this one up. This is a very dark romance. It will not be for everyone.
I completely fell in love with HD Carlton’s writing. I questioned my morals several times while reading. There are very sensitive topics in this book; however, I can deeply respect the awareness it brings to subjects that are often left in the dark and not discussed enough.
Addie and Zade’s chemistry is completely addictive. Their cat & mouse dynamic had me hooked from the jump. The setting was 6/5 stars for me. I am an absolute sucker for a haunted house, and the atmosphere was everything. I also totally related to Addie being awkward in public but comfortably at home in her own darkness and with the ghosts.
The entire premise of this story is dauntingly mind-blowing. I stayed up way too late reading. Spoiled the entire book to my husband. And I am stoked to see this become a movie. Bring me Zade! 🥵
Shout out to @narratedbyteddyhamilton and @michellesparksvoice and the full cast for an immersive graphic audio. Another point to Teddy for being one of my favorite narrators. 👏🏻
I didn’t even bother listing the spicy scenes this time. There were plenty of them, but I was way too invested in the story to stop and keep track. Sorry, friends.
This definitely will not be everyone’s cup of tea, but ahhhh… I absolutely flew through this book and immediately started Hunting Adeline. I finished that one just as fast… review pending.
