Wonderfully written with surprising plot twists to help make the story have deeper meaning. The added emotionally charged storytelling involving family dynamics and how they affect relationships made the novel more complex. Loved the spunk and humor of the main character, Dolly. All the books characters were colorful and sometimes inspiring. It felt like a cozy warm, fun place to share food, family and friends with lots of love between all. Of course the love story at the center of it all was touching and expressed so well including the steaming sexy parts. All romantic stories whether books or movies have that plot twist where the lovers break up and everything’s going to be terrible. But we all know they’re going to get back together. The author did a great job of not making it so contrite. Saving the best for last, the narrator Julia Whelan, my very favorite, is once again completely and totally amazing. I always fall in love with every male character that is the love interest in the books she narrates. I think every woman would die for a man like the one in this book. She does such a spectacular job bringing to life the male and female characters. She continues to completely amaze me with her sincere and deeply connected emotions that she infuses into every character.— Robyn’s analytics, Audible listener
