I’ve always been drawn to Medusa. Her story exemplifies the painful effects of misogyny and how women who come into power are then perceived. This book does a beautiful job capturing Medusa transition from curious, hopeful, and intelligent you women cognizant of her lack of power in her world to a powerful being through pain and deception who is then hunted because she dares to no longer bow to others. I loved how Ayana Gray told the story of many women in many aspects. I saw me in first Sthenos and then in Ceto. My story began in Appelonia once we landed in Greece and for a majority my best friend whom I call Dolphin began as Medusa until she was seduced and coerced by Poseidon.
