Publisher’s Summary

Before Eve, there was Lilith.

Lilith and Adam are equal and happy in the Garden of Eden. Until Adam decides Lilith should submit to his will and lie beneath him. She refuses—and is banished forever from Paradise.

Demonized and sidelined, Lilith watches in fury as God creates Eve, the woman who accepts her submission. But Lilith has a secret: she has already tasted the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Endowed with Wisdom, she knows why Asherah—God’s wife and equal, the Queen of Heaven—is missing. Lilith has a plan: she will rescue Eve, find Asherah, restore balance to the world, and regain her rightful place in Paradise.

Lilith’s quest for justice drives her throughout history, from the ziggurats of Ancient Sumer, to the court of Israel’s Queen Jezebel, and to the side of a radical preacher in Roman Judea. Noah’s wife, Norea, Jezebel and Mary Magdalene all play their part in Lilith’s enlightenment. In the modern age, as she observes the catastrophic consequences of a world built on inequality, Lilith finally understands what must be done to correct the wrong done to women—and all humankind—at the beginning of time.

What Audible Listeners Are Saying

4/5 stars — “POV “
I like the story from this perspective and the way it makes you think of life. I thought there were some parts that were difficult to understand because a character or their background were not explained and If you don’t have a full knowledge of religious history you don’t know who people are.

Besides that, it was written giving value to women, love that. Love seeing the typical hero’s be humanized and point out mistakes mentioned in the original version. I loved seeing value in Liliths actions.

Definitely a great read.

5/5 stars — “Different prospective “
This is one of my favorite books this year. A different prospective and important story about the beginning of humans, specifically woman..

3/5 stars — “Smartly constructed and poignant feminist novel, more boring than Sunday school “
I really liked the theme behind this book, challenging the idea that feminism is a new invention by telling the most famous stories in the world with a feminist perspective that has not been forgotten, but been suppressed by power hungry men under the guise of divinity. But what is smartly done as a “Lost Testament of Lilith” is as boring as Bible study, only with some poignant ideas to interest an academic mind. Good book for academic study, but painful to get through at times.
