Publisher’s Summary

An “edgy, sexy” (Booklist) story where love battles against betrayal, and every confession hides a dangerous secret—from the beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author of Reminders of Him, Verity, and It Ends with Us.

Auburn Reed’s life is one meticulously constructed plan after another. But when she stumbles into Owen Gentry’s art studio, a chance encounter unravels a connection she cannot deny. Owen’s art, created from anonymous confessions, carries an eerie weight, its beauty laced with sorrow and truths too unsettling to ignore. Auburn is drawn to both the man and his mysterious work, and she’s willing to risk everything to know more.

But Owen has his own confession. His past is shrouded in secrets that could destroy everything Auburn believes about him. As choices made in the shadows threaten to unravel the delicate bond they’ve created, Auburn soon finds herself trapped in a labyrinth of lies, where love seems as dangerous as it is irresistible.

Raw, intense, and brimming with feeling, Confess takes us on a heart-wrenching journey where trust is a fragile weapon in the battle to hold onto what matters most—and true love and family are bonds that can never be broken.

What Audible Listeners Are Saying

5/5 stars — “#Confess, 5 stars are not enough for this story!”
OMG (not being lame, you’ll see when you read the book) this is one of the most incredible stories I have read. Colleen Hoover just has this amazing talent of weaving storylines together, so much so you can never guess what is coming. This book will fill you with so many emotions right from the prologue. I literally went from sobbing, to laughing to hating some characters so much I could feel my blood pressure rising! The story has the perfect blend of raw reality and humor right when you need it most.

I read the paperback and listened to the audiobook at the same time, because I simply did not want to have to put the story down for any reason! Sebastian York and Elizabeth Louise did an amazing job narrating the story for the chapters I listened to. I look forward to listening to the whole audiobook soon since this story just begs to be read over and over!

Of course, this isn’t just a simple book. In the digital or paperback version, you also get to see the paintings (commissioned by Danny O’Connor) that Owen creates from peoples’ confessions and that adds so much more to the experience. I can’t even look at the last painting without wanting to curl up in the fetal position and bawl my eyes out! Please do yourself a favor and also purchase the digital or hard copy of the books in addition to this very well done audiobook!

I am simply in awe of Colleen Hoover’s creativity and storytelling ability. Seriously, 5 stars are just not enough for this book!

5/5 stars — “O.M.G.”
Colleen Hoover has an amazing ability to make you feel a range of nearly every single human emotion possible. You’ll cry your eyes out and then on the next page you’ll left hysterically. All the confessions and the fact that they are from real fans. Can’t pick just one. The prologue had me crying and then again at the end. I was 7 minutes into the (audio) book and cried. So I knew this would be a great book. Just like every other Colleen Hoover book, this one had me full of feels and emotions. Of course I was laughing so much as well because let’s face it, Colleen Hoover writes hilarious books! How does she always seem to come up with these exceptional story lines??!!!
Trey and Lydia – I can’t say out loud what I think about you both because Jesus is watching.
