Publisher’s Summary

Read by Hugh Fraser

“Writing Crooked House was pure pleasure and I feel justified in my belief that it is one of my best.” –Agatha Christie

Described by the queen of mystery herself as one of her favorites of her published work, Crooked House is a classic Agatha Christie thriller revolving around a devastating family mystery.

The Leonides are one big happy family living in a sprawling, ramshackle mansion. That is until the head of the household, Aristide, is murdered with a fatal barbiturate injection.

Suspicion naturally falls on the old man’s young widow, fifty years his junior. But the murderer has reckoned without the tenacity of Charles Hayward, fiancé of the late millionaire’s granddaughter.

What Audible Listeners Are Saying

5/5 stars — “Mystery that keeps you guessing”
I thought this was great. I love listening while reading along and this just kept me wondering and was glad to have eventually guessed the right one right before the reveal. 10/10 – recommend

5/5 stars — “Suspenseful and crooked path to resolution “
Plotting and characters Motif of crooked cleverly wrought and not clear just who did it til the end

— Lara, Audible listener

5/5 stars — “Excellent for anyone interested in psychology “
Agatha Christie’s genius has always lain in her singular understanding of human nature, and this is a prime example. This book is less about situational facts and more about emotions and motives. I suspected quite literally everyone, so I can’t say it was a SURPRISE at the end—but up until the moment of the reveal, it really could’ve been anyone. I really liked the choice of Charles Hayward as a narrator! Hugh Fraser is, as always, second to none.
