I have no idea why Harper Audio decided to cast a brand new group of narrators for the US version of the book when they already had a stellar cast for the UK version. But saying that, what the UK version did not have was the Scots tones of Gary Furlong to give the book authenticity.The story itself is one that has been done many times before, so I don’t know why it is getting so much praise. We have a group of friends who have known one another since Uni who ritually spend the New Year together each year despite growing apart and resenting one another. And of course… there is a murder. The storyline is unoriginal but it was entertaining having lots of different narrators taking turns to read chapters.
