But as Sloan became emotionally and economically reliant on him, he in turn developed a disturbing obsession with her—one that becomes increasingly dangerous every day.
When undercover DEA Agent Carter enters the picture, Sloan’s surprised to feel an immediate attraction between them, despite knowing that if Asa finds out, he will kill him. And Asa has always been a step ahead of everyone in his life, including Sloan. No one has ever gotten in his way.
No one except Carter.
Together, Sloan and Carter must find a way out before it’s too late….

What Audible Listeners Are Saying
4/5 stars — “Good story”
There were so many twists and turns I got dizzy( figuratively of course) a few times. I believe there are or should be some trigger warnings because I definitely skipped some scenes. Overall great story. Don’t regret spending my credit on this.— Lily, Audible listener
5/5 stars — “Queen of Double Play”
There is no way to write a review without spoiler so I will be short and sweet! Amazing. The lottery talent of Hoover is evident in this masterpiece. Would love to see a story featuring Ryan or Tilly.— Littlebkeeper, Audible listener
5/5 stars — “Too real!”
I’m a domestic abuse survivor. This book really hit home and makes me wonder if CH has ever been in a situation, or if she just did some serious research into how a narcissistic sociopath thinks. If you’ve never known someone like Asa, you would think that maybe his character was a bit overkill, but honestly it’s completely accurate. I loved this book and couldn’t stop listening even though it was a little triggering. Thanks CH for another great book!— alex gilmore, Audible listener
